Female: So how common are zebras in the Serengeti?
Stanford Milinga: Serengeti, the animals also I can say it’s a like a part from those residents animals or apart form zebras and wildebeest and these gazelles. The Masai molds are all live in the Serengeti in the all year round, and then zebras, the season animals, so depending on the movement and depending on the drops of the rain but the very famous or the very norms for the migrations is the great migrations.
I think this on the place in Africa you can find this great migration here in Tanzania especially in Serengeti which makes a complete eco system. Those animals go up to Masai Mara and then coming back again to the Southern Serengeti. So zebras and wildebeest to use to be found in here, by this time most of them supposed to be in the Southern Serengeti and then they can stay up to the beginning of the end of March. While you find that its too much raining here and then becoming really wet, so to avoid those wetness then starting slowly going to the center all the way to the northern up to the Masai Mara Plains, so zebras a re very common in Serengeti.
We have one of the very few numbers of the wildebeest who have head in Southern Serengeti, so probably the others might be nearby and then this could be a good sign for us. I think that the wildebeest are very close to where we are staying. Then maybe all those five days we are staying here, we might see them in a very big numbers, so here is just only few wildebeest and the zebras are all grazing together.
Female: Will the zebras and the welder beast have a hang out together often?
Stanford Milinga: Yeah, they are all depending on one another. Zebras are very good on smelling and then also they are good on memory, but in case of feeding, the zebras have they can eat even those tall grasses, and then wildebeest comes for the short one, so they are always use to be associate to get together zebras and wildebeest.
Female: How many welder beasts are there in Serengeti Plains?
Stanford Milinga: Not really fix numbers, coz according to the census, those guys who are save themselves counting the migration in two thousand and six, they were saying that about three millions wildebeests but if you just ask the to those who survive all those time up to now. These guys are much blind a lot, and even according to the counts their looks counting is like just making a groups maybe a certain square miles and then they can count them, then they are trying to approximately but real the number might be much than that they are expecting.
