And today we want to take a short look at some things you can do in Yellow Submarine to make it fun to play. First we’re going to look at just strumming what is a really easy song and that is we just need some normal chord in the key of G. G for number one probably 2 Am it happens we got it. 3 Bm doesn’t happen. 4BC does happen. 5BD. We use D and sometimes D7. Their sort of interchanged within the song and then 6 would be Em. So it uses 5 of the 6 chords in the key G.
G, Am, C D, or G7 and Em. It also has some kind of cool some cool strumming things and most of what we’re going to talk about here is just counting carefully and not planning on any beat of the measure so at the very beginning of the song we hear a couple of melody notes. When they get to the word town “In the town…” that’s the first beat of the first measure, what we’re going to be doing in strumming for a little while for the first verse is just strumming every time there’s a chord change.
The chord change is on beats 1 and 4 so we’re going to come in with beat 1 in the town. Now before we hit a C and be one with the next measure we hit a G. So this pattern is going to continue where we’re strumming a chord on one resting on 2 and 3 and during those rests you got to keep your hand….
