With automatic guns and bombs taking the forefront on popular weapons; we don't hear much about injuries from arrows. In what many call a freak occurrence, a Maryland woman was hospitalized after being struck in the head with an arrow. The 26-year-old female was viewing archery target practice outside of a residence, when one of the arrows recoiled from a hay bale and hit her. Police are referring to the incident as an accidental injury, but the lady is very fortunate that the weapon did not penetrate her skull. She was flown to the trauma center, but has since been released and is recovering.

In May of this year, another victim suffered an arrow wound. A 7-year-old Wisconsin girl was walking down a sidewalk pushing her dolls in a carriage when the weapon punctured her back. The arrow came very close to severely damaging her internal organs. She is recovering and referred to as “a walking miracle”. Police arrested the shooter, who turned out to be a 16-year-old male allegedly trying to hit a squirrel.
