Wiens to Ride Hardtail at 2009 Leadville 100 MTB Race
The ideal bike for the Leadville 100 that’s going to vary but who you talked to, I think some guys are going to say it’s a 29er. Some guys are going to want the full suspension. For me, my bike of choice in the six years that I have done it, my best racers are come on Hardtail. It is not really comparing apples to apples necessarily because each year is a little bit different but in the trans out we rode full suspensions and I was happy to have those over there so, I haven’t fully made up my mind but at this point, I’m leaning towards riding a Hardtail again and for me and my bill, it’s a light weight Hardtail but it’s going to roll faster an that’s the bike I am looking for. It is not super trick. It’s a—I mean it’s an awesome bike. It is the Rotwild and carbon fiber frame and lightweight wheel set and Continental tires a pretty basic hi-end race bike.
