Why You Should Visit Norway

Julie Conover: Norway and Sweden from the Scandinavian Peninsula which is surrounded by the Norwegian, North and Baltic Seas. The early Norwegians were master ship builders; we found shelter between explorations in the vast fjords of the Scandinavian coast line.

The cities of Oslo and Bergen were trading in shipping ports that have continued to thrive because of their strategic locations and deep harbors.

Mark Jennings: Archeological finds reveal a culture that was rich in art and handicrafts. Animals were the primary motif found decorating ships, household goods, jewelry and weapons. 900 to 1050 the fierce Vikings sailed far and wide, pillaging, plundering, trading and settling distant lands.

Female: The Viking’s voyage was usually from the Scandinavian countries across the Artic Sea into Iceland, Greenland and across over into North America into New Foundland.

Julie Conover: Several factors fueled these waves of marauders, Norway’s cold rugged landscape made agriculture difficult. And large families burden the existing resources causing many to leave their villages and seek their fortunes on the high seas.

Mark Jennings: At the turn of the century, the same forces created widespread famine and poverty, fueling a mass exodus and Norwegian immigrants to America.

Julie Conover: Life in Norway today looks pretty idyllic it is not a cheap place to call home but citizens do enjoy one of the highest standards of living in the world.

Female: It is nice to be live in Norway because of the nature; it is a really nice place to grow up. You think about the nature of it and all of its part I was thinking, they are really outdoors type of people and not so much T.V culture.

Julie Conover: In exchange for their high tax rates, Norwegians get quality health care, beautiful open spaces and excellent educational system and child care for working parents.

Female: It pays me good in Oslo; you go like skiing, cross country skiing with them. We have small sleds like behind our cross country season, we go skiing and we go for walks in the parks. Then in the mountains and we go sailing and we do a lot of nice activities here in Norway.

Female 2: Norwegians are absolutely friendly and they can see what for you, because 95% of us speak English.

Julie Conover: One might think that in a country so clean and organized the people would be a little bit reserved maybe in an uptight. Not the Norwegians, we found them to be warm and relaxed with an excellent sense of humor.

Male: Come to Norway. We are very friendly people, there are no Polar Bears in the Suites as you can see so we are nice people actually and there is Viking in all of us.
