Katherine Power: Today's episode is sponsored by Aussie Hair Care, your source for great style and naturally beautiful hair.
Hillary Kerr: Hello! Everyone and welcome, you are watching WhoWhatWear TV. I am Hillary Kerr.
Katherine Power: I am Katherine Power. And today we are going to talk about all of the awesome wavy hair that we saw on many of the fall runways as well as on the heads of your favorite celebrities.
The fall runways showcase lots of lovely hair styles such as this casually undone kinky curl seen at Anna Sui, Diesel, and Gucci. The trend isn't as polished as the curls we have seen in recent years, instead it's got a natural unfussy look, that's a little bit beachy and a little rock and roll.
Hillary Kerr: To help us figure out how to get hair that looks this great, we called in Aussie's celebrity hair stylist, Sarah Potempa.
Sarah Potempa: So the first thing you are going to do is focus on your sectioning. So you have a right side and a left side and then the back. So the key to sectioning, you start on the right side is that you want to get a horizontal line, that's your first step. So you are going to clip the hair away and then you are going to take this section and depending on how thick or thin your hair is, you can experiment using different sizes.
But I am going to separate this into two and you are going to take the Aussie's Opposite Attract hairspray which is a really strong hold, but a soft finish and you are actually going to split the entire piece. Now I am going to use this as a styling product, so it's not that old 80's big hair, hairspray.
You are going to take a 1-inch curling iron. You're keeping the iron closed and you're putting it behind the section. So on the right side it's really important, it's behind and it's wrapping away from the face to the right and you just going to wrap it around in a spiral motion all the way down and you are going to hold the end.
You are going to leave it on for 10-15 seconds based on how your will hold the curl and then when you release it, you just allow it to fall off the iron, just like that. I am just going to separate it into two again, spray the hairspray, same thing you are going to hold the end and then allow that to just slide out.
So once we finished the right side, you are going to see the waves look really beautiful, really soft, and natural and you just going to allow them to sort of blend end by lifting them up with your fingers.
On the left side, you want to always remember to put the iron behind the hair and wrap it away from the face to the left. The final step is we are going to add a leave-in cream to the hair. The one that I love to use, is called Moist Leave-In Creme by Aussie. You just need a dime size, just a little bit and you are going to concentrate on the ends. This is just going to add some shine and finish to the hair.
Okay, so we are all done, you have got your runway look.
