Katherine Power: Each time fall rolls around we get a lot of emails from our teen readers that want help with their back to school shopping.

Hillary Kerr: In typical WhoWhatWear style, we thought it would be fun to look to one of our favorite young celebrities for inspiration.

Katherine Power: We've also pulled some great clothes from JCPenney that are going to help us get the look of today's muse, Miley Cyrus.

Female Speaker: On a recent shopping trip in LA, Miley worn an Empire waist tank dress over her black leggings. For a little extra style, she added a lightweight scarf around her neck and her favorite gladiator sandals.

Katherine Power: When you are back to school shopping, it's best to go for dark basics, like a gray sweater or a black skirt. Then bring in interesting accents through accessories, like a sparkly scarf or even a colored bag.

Hillary Kerr: Also make sure that you have at least two great pairs of jeans, try one pair in basic blue and another in gray or black.

Katherine Power: First of all, we love the style of Miley's dress, so we found this plaid top with the same cut by Decree, and since she loves to layer, we added a gray tank top underneath.

Hillary Kerr: Instead of basic black leggings, we like these stretch jean shorts, also by Decree.

Katherine Power: And because Miley is never without her accessories, we added some gladiator sandals, a lightweight scarf, and some chunky jewelry, also all from JCPenney.
