Hillary Kerr: Welcome to the Who What Wear fashion closet, I am Hillary Kerr.
Katherine Power: And I am Katherine Power. At WhoWhatWearDaily.com we get an enormous amount of email from readers wondering what styles of pants they should be wearing? They want to know if their skinnies are still cool? How to wear a wide leg or what shapes they should be looking out for next.
Hillary Kerr: While wearing pant seems easy enough, there are a few tricks to getting the various silhouettes right. We will show you how to wear three different styles, but first take a look at our runway inspirations.
Female Speaker: The wide leg pant is still a popular style this season. Some of our favorite examples were on the runways of Biba, Karen Walker and Shinelle. Slim fit pants are also still incredibly shaped. Gucci, Luella and Matthew Williamson showed this style as a skinny trouser. Cropped pants are another big spring trend. We saw some amazing examples at Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim and YSL.
Katherine Power: Now that we have shown you the three major shapes for spring, let's take a look in the closet and put a couple of outfits together.
The key to looking great in any style of pants is getting the correct fit, choose your pant size based on your largest measurement and get the roomier areas altered. Also, don't forget to bring the shoes you want to wear with you to the tailor.
Hillary Kerr: Trying different pant trends can be tricky. The secret is to watch your proportions. For example, if you are wearing a baggy or wide leg pant, keep the top part of your outfit fitted.
First step, we have a pair of classic wide leg trousers in a Katharine Hepburn style. When you are wearing a pair or wide leg pants with a slight high waist like these by Jenni Kayne, you want to make sure to tuck your shirt in, otherwise you will look sloppy and not sophisticated.
Katherine Power: Also it's critical to hem your wide leg pants to the right length. The back of the pant should just grace the floor and the front needs to have a little break enough to see the tip of your shoe. And don't forget to bring the shoes you want to wear with you to the tailor. Skinny jeans have been popular for a number of years now. But we wanted to show you an alternative to denim. So, we found these brown Elizabeth & James soft and stretchy slim fit pants.
Hillary Kerr: To complete the look we then added a slightly roomy cut top which we reigned in by adding a narrow belt at the natural waist.
Katherine Power: Our final look is the crop pant which is particularly hot right now and definitely my favorite style. But keep in mind, this is not a capri or a clam digger, this pant should have a slightly relaxed, more boyish cut.
Hillary Kerr: We picked these Slouch pants from Urban Outfitters as the base of our look and then rolled the cuffs just a little bit based on our model's height. To bring in the bright colors of this season we then added this lemon yellow tank from H&M.
