(Image source: BostInno )   BY LOGAN TITTLE   The White House has removed a petition from its We the People website that called for singer Beyoncé Knowles to be “disinvited” from performing the national anthem at President Obama’s inauguration Monday.   Beyoncé is a longtime supporter of the president—hosting numerous fundraisers with hubby Jay Z   —and even partnering up with first lady Michelle on her “Let’s Move!” campaign that encourages a healthier lifestyle for America’s youth.   So why the petition to get her booted? Turns out the singer is sporting a business relationship that some supporters are not so happy with.   The Los Angeles Times explains Beyoncé’s recent signing with Pepsi to represent the soda company during the Super Bowl for a whopping $50 million clashes with Mrs. Obama’s health-conscious campaign.   A writer for Food Politics blog explains the singer’s inconsistency—   “If Beyoncé’s mission is to inspire young people of any color to look gorgeous and rise to the top, as she has done, she is now telling them that the way to get there—and to get rich—is to drink Pepsi. This untrue suggestion is, on its own, unethical.”   But—sugary controversy or not—the petition no longer stands. A spokesperson for the White House explained to the Obama Foodarama blog the petition was taken down because the singer’s Inaugural performance is “not something the White House actually has jurisdiction over.” —The Inauguration is run by the Presidential Inaugural Committee.   And on top of making this petition obsolete—the White House is raising the bar for all petitions in order to get an official response...   By bumping the number of required signatures from 25,000 to 100,000 after use of the site doubled at the end of last year.
