(Image source: White House )     BY ZACH TOOMBS     After President Obama’s critics insisted “Pics or it didn’t happen,” the White House caved and released a photo Saturday of the commander-in-chief skeet shooting.   Say what you will about his form, but Mr. Obama put naysayers to rest with photographic evidence this weekend — backing up a claim about shooting he made in a high-profile interview with The New Republic .   That interview was published earlier this week, with The New Republic asking the president if he’d ever fired a gun. His response?   “Yes, in fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time.”   — which led to much ribbing from conservative critics who questioned the claim that Obama knew his way around a firearm.   “If he is a skeet shooter, why have we not heard of this? Why have we not seen photos? Why has he not referenced it?”   The White House specified that official photographer Pete Souza took the photo in August, lest anyone should think the president ran out on the White House front lawn with a shotgun for a quick photo op this week.   Anyway, let the record show many politicians have claimed lengthy experience handling a gun —  some less convincingly than others.   “I’ve always been a rodent and rabbit hunter, alright? Small, small varmints if you will.”
