The Tai Chi Minute
Hi, it’s David Dorian Ross, America’s Tai Chi champion and its time for another Tai Chi minute. Now today, I want to talk about spacing. Give me some space man and in particular, I want to talk about the spacing that happens underneath your extremities, with your arms and your legs. Every time you create a Tai Chi position, there should be some movement, some area underneath your arms and in between your groin.
We actually say that there is always another space of an egg or a walnut underneath your armpit so your hands, never get close to your body this way. There's always some space in there but the same toe can, your feet, your legs never get too close together. There's always some room in here. A little bit of an opening in the groin. So when you’re doing your stepping, the feet don’t come that close together either. There's always a little bit of space. So give me some space man when you’re doing your Tai Chi. Play with this, have some fun with it. Don’t work it to death. This is David Dorian Ross and I’ll see you in the next Tai Chi minute.
