Hi, this is Mike Callahan, Dr. File Finder and welcome to your Butterscotch tutorial on what is SSID?
If a friend asked you, “What’s your SSID?” and you have no idea what they’re talking about. Well SSID in networking simply means service set identifier which is a more accomplished way of saying the name. So it’s the name of your network uses. If you go into your router under wireless, you can see wireless network name. SSID, mine is called Callahan. If you look, this is on my droid; these are all the SSID’s of my neighbors.
See the lock, they’re all secured, this one is secured with web which is really secured, so when you hear an SSID it’s simply a name for your network that is broadcast, your network doesn’t have to have an SSID but it often makes it easier for you to find your network when there are a lot of network available.
