Audra Lowe: Every bride wants to look picture perfect on her wedding day, but with the dress, the accessories, the make-up, hair and all that stuff how do you really pull it all together and make sure that you look great. We met up with Karen Bussen author of Simple Stunning Bride to find out.
Karen Bussen: I'm here at David’s bridal celebrating the launch of my new book Simple Stunning Bride. And I'm here to talk with brides today about fashion and beauty. So let’s get started with the most important outfit you'll ever wear, your wedding gown.
And the first look we’re going to take a look at today is a wonderful classic goddess silhouette at David’s Bridal and what I love about it is, it is that classic silhouette perfect for a destination wedding, light and summery but it also has a wonderful fresh twist of that great accessory—the one shoulder floral detail. So I think this is just absolutely beautiful. Simple, elegant, gorgeous.
Our next look is great for the bride who wants a little bit more glamour with her dress. Again, it’s a classic silhouette this is from the Galina’s Signature collection at David’s Bridal. And I love it because it’s strapless; it’s a full ball skirt with this wonderful tiered detail but it’s also just got this beating that just bumps it up a little bit and really makes her look like the princess bride.
This trend is hot off the runway. What can be cuter than wearing a short and sassy dress to your wedding? I love this one from Galina collection. Its budget friendly, it’s beautiful, it’s sparkly, it has great detailing. You could make this your look for the whole wedding or if you want to just switch up your look after the ceremony, let’s say you're wearing a long simple gown you could just add a little glamour and use this as your dress to cut the rug and keep the celebration going.
Now that you have the perfect dress for you, it’s time to add a little sparkle. All you need to do is find a great little headband or even a wonderful feather accent for your beautiful hair. And between the ceremony and reception you might want to think about switching up your look. So take the veil off, add a little smokey eye and maybe even a chunkier necklace or a sparkly shoe.
Another great tip is to take delicate bracelets and layer them in sort of goddess fashion so that you get a wonderful sparkly bangle look on your arm.
And now for the fun stuff—getting gorgeous. So you have to look great on your big day and hair and makeup is a really important part of it. So I'm here today with Jackie Philips from the Jacqueline Pascual Red Carpet Spa. She is a celebrity beauty expert and she’s going to help us with some tips for the bride on getting the look that she wants for the big day. So Jackie what would your first tip be for brides?
Jackie: First tip is when choosing an expert you always want to do a makeup and hair trial.
Karen Bussen: Okay. What would you say for brides in terms of trying to find the look that’s perfect for them?
Jackie: Go through magazines any pictures pull them and bring them to the artist. This way you could really create your best look.
Karen Bussen: And so what’s your advice on creating a brand new fashion statement on your wedding day, is that something you should do?
Jackie: No, absolutely not. You want to be a great version of yourself.
Karen Bussen: So with just a little bit of thought about your dream dress, your accessories and your hair and makeup you too can be a simple stunning bride. So go out there and celebrate yourself all the way to the big day.
