Naomi: Hi I am Naomi and I am very excited to show you the World's greatest attractions.
A local phrase aptly says "The mountain is a Buddha and The Buddha is a mountain." The Leshan Giant Buddha is an imposing figure enthroned in a sheer cliff face. The statue was built in the 8th Century to calm the rivers, flowing past its feet. Even seated, this is the largest Buddhist Statue in the world and its 223 feet tall.
The designer, Haitong built-in an invented drainage system that keeps the statue from eroding. Visitors can see the Leshan Buddha from the base or climb to a platform at ear level.
Thank you for watching our travel video series. See you next time.
