Chateau is a grand castle with a rather spotty, but interesting, history. It was first built in the eleventh century in order to control a nearby ford. King Charles the 7th seized it in 1434 after its owner was convicted of treason. Once in the hands of the French kings, it was enlarged and rebuilt.
