Peggy’s Cove is the most famous fishing village in the world. The lighthouse here has become a symbol of the spirit of Nova Scotia. It was built in early 1914 and it currently houses of fully operational Canadian Post Office during the summer months.
The graceful lighthouse sits high upon the 10,000 year old wave worn granite of the coast and the tiny harbor below is a masterpiece of weathered shades and colorful fishing boats. Just 25 miles south of Halifax, there are only 60 year round residences in this working fishing village. The charming clapboard and shingled houses and simple timbered buildings have helped to make Peggy’s Cove one of Canada’s most photographed locations.
This Northeastern fishing village is alive with activity all summer long and those not interested in the fishing industry have lent their talents to art and tourism.
Shops in the village offer items inspired by the sea and friendly locals help you make just the right choice.
