Outdoor lovers, you'd be hard pressed to find a better a travel destination in Le Ceiba, Honduras. Situated along the northern Honduran Coast, Le Ceiba got its start in the late 1800s as a major player in the Banana Industry. Today, the city is considered the Eco-Tourism Capital of the country.
Many believe Le Ceiba is home to the best white water rafting in Central America. Your heart will race as your raft leaps and dives the Rio Cangrejal. Several companies including La Moskitia Ecoaventuras offer tours through rapids ranging from a basic Class II to an advance Class V.
A milder experience can be found that one of Honduras’ best known Eco-tourism spots, Pico Bonito National Park, much of the park is off limits. So you’ll want to meet a tour guide or visit The Lodge at Pico Bonito. Hike along well-kept trails, observe wild life from a tower, even swim in a natural river pool.
All aboard an old banana train to the Cuero y Salado Wildlife Refuge. For more than two decades, the reserve has protected 35 species of animals and a variety of vegetation to support that wildlife.
Boat tours and canoe trips in the park allow you get an even closer look at the abundant wildlife here. And speaking of a boat, it’s the only way to get to the marine reserve, Cayos Cochinos. This day trip off the coast of Le Cieba can't be missed.
Incredible snorkeling, relaxing island life, and a chance to immerse yourself in the culture of the Garifuna will provide memories for a life time. Only in Honduras, the Central America you know. The country you'll love.
