Visit Marsaxlokk Island in Malta
Marsaxlokk means South Eastern Harbor, the harbor that gives a happy picture especially on a weekends when a flee market is held along the bank of the bay. The fishermen pay attention to the painting of their boats the colors are the same, blue, yellow, green, red. Yet you can not find two similarly painted boats on the harbor. Osiris’ eye is painted on their sides which protect the boat and its owner that the Ganza reminds us of the gandalos in Venice.
The Kajik is like a boat while the bigger parts mainly used by the fisherman are called luzo. The shapes and colors of the boats have not really change since the time of the Phoenicians. Of course there is fisher market everyday at the bay after the fisherman arrives with there latest catch. This is completed with the vegetable market. The products are delivered by ship from the Island of Gozo. On Saturdays and Sundays there are second hand markets. It seems that the local people prefer markets to the shopping centers. One can hardly named a thing that can not be obtained here.
Marsaxlokk has no famous monuments but its overall picture is typically Maltese. Napoleon landed here in 1798 but we can not find any memory of this fact. We can find some pleasant terrace cafes in fish restaurants along the coast.
