Visit Brasov in Transylvania Romania

Brasov is not only the biggest city of Transylvania but it also lies very beautifully. It’s a county seat with a population of 320,000. It’s located in the southeast corner of Barsei at the foot of the mountain of Brasov. It was an important center of transport and commerce even in 1211, when Andrew II conferred the city to the German order. Its real flourishing was under the rule of King Louis the Great. Today, the acceleration of tourism marks the beginning of the second ruler.

A favorite spot for walking in the creation of the locals is the central park, which is linked to Main Square by a pedestrian zone. In front of the famous black church, Johannes Honterus statue can be seen. He was a famous German humanist, European famed photographer and printer of the 1500’s. The black church is a great work of European gothic in the east. In 1689, Imperial General Caraffa had the city burnt down and looted. The walls of the church became black in the fire. And since then, it has been called “The Black Church.”

Above the southern gate the renaissance fresco declared that [Foreign Language] his Coat of Arms can be seen. In the 65 meter high tower the six ton bell rings. Organ concerts are given on an organ with 76 registers and 4,000 organ pipes. The main square of the old town is just a few steps from the church. In the center we can see the building of the old city hall, which was built to be the headquarters of the guild in the 15th century. On its facade the code of arms of the town can be seen even today.

This square used to be the market place of the medieval Brasov and is flank with monument like buildings, former commercial houses, blocks of flacks, inns and a church in the Byzantine style. The famous Carpathian Deer Inn was located in one of the houses on the square. The pedestrian and shopping street of the city begins here. Opposite of the square, behind the houses a stream flows. According to locals King Solomon after whom the Solomon tower in vision and was named lived here as a hermit in a cave. After he had lost the first and was disputed.

Opposite of the ruins at the former citadel, sink mountain rise as high. On its top there was a castle which was demolished in the 14th century. Tourist routes and cable cars take us to Panorama Inn. And get a wonderful view of the whole city from here. In clear weather we can even see the peaks of the snow capped mountains, from above we can see that the picture of the old wall town seems to be very balanced even in the 21st century. Modern buildings can only be built outside the wall.
