Baltimore, the states largest city was settled in the early 17th century and has been an important port throughout its history. The cities inner harbor area has been revitalized, transformed into a vibrant center for the best the city has to offer. Culturally there are over 30 museums within 20 miles downtown, many of which are within walking distance from the harbor.
Historic Lexington Market downtown is the countries largest public market and continues operation since 1782. Open air until the year of the 1800’s, the market has a 140 vendor stalls selling everything from fresh produce, poultry, seafood and meat to prepared foods. Take out or dine in, delis, fried chicken, barbecue, ice cream, bakeries and just about everything in between. Lexington market is a classic Baltimore experience.
Baltimore is home for many baseball legends in addition to the sultan of swat, Babe Ruth, Carl Rickton Junior, Lefty Grow, Frank Homerun Baker, Earl Banes and Jimmy Fox are just a few of the hometown heroes. Camden Yards, one of baseballs great stadiums is home to the Baltimore Oreos. Built in 1992 in an old rail road area, centerfield is on top of Babe Ruth’s childhood home. Oreo Park is state of the art yet a uniquely traditional park intimate in design. Lending with the urban context of downtown Baltimore but with the feeling of baseball parks built in the early 20th century.
