Another good security measure is to seal off your loft hatch with bolts. It’s relatively easy to enter a house by simply removing a few tiles climbing into the low space and then getting entry into your house. Also, some semi-detach or terrace houses have links low spaces increasing any risk of entry into your home.

Fence panels can be easily removed especially if concrete posts have been used. They simply slide up. To seal these panels and stopping intruders lifting the panels up apply a bit of exterior silicone between the concrete post and the fence panel. To stop intruders climbing over fence panels, foreign bushes or holly can be planted. Many shrubs are available that will deter the would-be intruder. This can also be planted underground for our windows. Never leave ladders accessible. Always chain on padlocked ladders to a wall, a good personal safety item is a smoke alarm. But make sure that the battery is checked frequently.
