The company's share price has been on an absolute tear." Up about 100 percent in 2013, vastly outperforming the benchmark Hang Seng Index. With its wildly successful social media platforms, Tencent has been a fabulous play on China's thriving online culture. Tencent still has plenty of analyst endorsements - 27 out of 35 recently rating it a buy or strong buy. (SOUNDBITE) (English) REUTERS REPORTER, TARA JOSEPH, SAYING: "But some risks are mounting for the all-star Internet player: First of all - its earnings per share growth is waning..." ...versus some of its up and coming peers. The company also has a growing number of competitors out there in Sino cyber space. (SOUNDBITE) (English) REUTERS REPORTER, TARA JOSEPH, SAYING: "And since 95 percent of its revenues are derived domestically - it has to keep pumping out hot products to keep its China-based users happy. Tencent also has to monetize..." ...users on its mobile platform. Right now only nine percent of Tencent revenues are based on ads - a fraction compared to the ratio at the global Internet giant Google. (SOUNDBITE) (English) REUTERS REPORTER, TARA JOSEPH, SAYING: "Meanwhile, the firm's marketing costs have risen dramatically." Tencent may have been the darling China tech stock in the region for 2013. But what if some of its competitors also list in Hong Kong?
