The typhoon with winds packing 120 kph (75mph) and gusts up to 150 kph (93mph), made landfall in the northeastern coastline of Aurora Province early morning but weakened as it moved west to the provinces of Nueva Ecija and Zambales. Storm signals were raised in the affected provinces as it moves to the South China Sea. Power and communication lines were cut in Aurora Province, while severe flooding was reported in Bulacan and Nueva Ecija, officials said. The local government advised residents in the affected areas to evacuate to temporary shelters. Sea and air travel have also been suspended since Friday (October 11), with fishermen urged to bring their boats in due to strong winds and giant waves. Emergency workers were sent on standby for relief operations, officials said. About 20 typhoons hit the Philippines each year, on average.
