Tyler Florence: There’s a lot of things that really make a great sandwich and you have to boil it down. First things first you got to start with great bread.
Lesley Nagy: You’ve been in Food Network for so long 14 years how did all this started for you?
Tyler Florence: I’ve been a chef here in New York City and I moved herein 1992 and some of the crops when the producers moved network before it was even called the food network the two minute stand time there and the producers walked downstairs and said hey that was great can you come back tomorrow and you know my flash forward 14 years that had 5 series etecetera 1000 episodes.
Lesley Nagy: Currently he host Tyler’s Ultimate where he’s out to find the best of our favorites like chicken, ribs, pizza, you name it.
Tyler Florence: You can’t be bashful about it right?
Lesley Nagy: You got to go all in.
Tyler Florence: Right so you got to go deep right and if you get a little sauce in your chin that’s just collateral damage.
Lesley Nagy: Let’s do it.
Tyler Florence: How about it right. Here.
Lesley Nagy: Thanks. Besides his show this year Tyler opened 3 restaurants a wine brand and a wrote his 6 cookbook.
Tyler Florence: People tap me on the shoulder and say that recipe you know they downloaded and made for the family is now a big hit. I may own it in a sense that’s what it’s worth everything.
Lesley Nagy: Speaking of family how is your family?
Tyler Florence: Family is great I have a 14-year-old who started high school and I have a beautiful 3 year old son Hayden who just started preK and a beautiful 2 year old daughter Dorothy.
Lesley Nagy: The little ones even inspired him to launch sprout or panic baby food.
Tyler Florence: I started a baby food company because there’s not a lot out there really to choose from. Being in northern California I think cooking wise my food has never been clearer and to be able to taste things and touch things you know just he epitomy of one flavor should taste like.
Lesley Nagy: His newest book focuses on family meal time.
Tyler Florence: A lot of recipes on how my wife and I feed our children. We have a neighborhood family. We did this whole big thing called a pot look dinner where everyone kind of brought their great recipes which is kind of fun. We include those in a book.
