Image Source: CNN BY PAULA HUNT  ANCHOR ZACH TOOMBS Imagine arriving at the airport, blowing past other travelers waiting in the security line, keeping your shoes on your feet and your laptop in its bag -- all while drinking from a water bottle. It’s not a blast from the past – the Transportation Security Administration is hoping it’s the future of air travel for more people. It’s called the PreCheck Trusted Traveler program , and HLN reports that to be included, fliers will have to meet unspecified criteria. “It's something where they have to ask you to be on this list. You can't just get on it. But you hand over lots and lots of information and then you can kind of speed right through those security lines, as long as they know everything about you.”   According to the " Boston Globe ," it allows... “...members who have been deemed low risk to keep shoes, jackets, and belts on. Children 12 and under and passengers 75 and older also receive expedited screening at any checkpoint; pilots, flight attendants, members of the military, and people with top-secret security clearances qualify at some airports.” According to " The Wall Street Journal, " the TSA has been encouraging travelers to take advantage of its PreCheck program to expedite the security process. “The problem is there aren’t a whole of people in it and so those lanes at checkpoints are underutilized and the TSA wants to get more people into pre-check.” The TSA also offers a PreCheck Trusted Traveler program at some border crossings, but it’s not without some snags. Here’s Tuscon’s KVOA : “A Yuma woman who was a member of a trusted traveler program was arrested at the Port of San Luis Wednesday after a drug-sniffing dog alerted to the presence of cocaine in her purse. ” And, Michigan Live reported that: “A traveler with ‘trusted’ status going through an expedited screening process at the U.S.-Canada border was found with a shotgun in his vehicle.” http://www.mlive.com/news/detroit/index.ssf/2012/12/traveler_with_trusted_status_c.html The PreCheck Trusted Traveler program is currently available in  35 airports.
