Hi, welcome to WatchMojo.com. I’m your host Christine. Today, we’ll be talking about two central states of Mexico, Aguascalientes and Michoacan. Michoacan has an area of 59,864 square kilometers. It is the 16th largest state in Mexico. It has a population of over 3.9 million people and its state capital is the City of Morelos dominated by the mountain of the Sierra Madre Occidental. It extends from the Pacific Ocean northeastward into the central plateau. Like the majority of the southern states in Mexico, it is known of its rich and varied culture, most notably for its unique pre-Columbian and colonial architecture as well as delicious cuisine and art. There are many cultural activities especially in the major cities like Morelo and Ocampo inland or such delights of the state of the annual migration of monarch butterflies. Villages specialize in wood, clay, straw, stone and metal crafts. On its coastline lie largely undeveloped white sanded coves and beaches that are great attraction to surfers and those looking for uncrowded shores. Aguacalientes is one of Mexico’s small states and it’s located in the highest central plain. The state consists of 11 municipalities, its capital being the city of Aguacalientes. Climate is largely temperate, semi-dry to semi-humid, with average annual temperatures between 62 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Today, Aguacalientes is a significant manufacturer center. The town features an annual San Marcos Fair as well as Mexico’s’ oldest state fair. Some of the interesting places to see in town include the Government Palace, the Municipal Palace, the old cathedral and the Casa de Cultura, the name originated from the Spanish words Aguacalientes, meaning hot water. When the city was first founded it was given this name for its abundance of hot springs. It is one of the fastest growing cities in Mexico. In fact the city’s urban area has grown so much in the last 10 years. It has surpassed the boundaries of the neighboring municipalities of Jesus Maria. It has picturesque towns that are ideal about the region’s history and traditions.
