Male Speaker: I am going to demonstrate on this dummy right here. Male Speaker: Just don't use the knife. Male Speaker: Scalpel please, I'm going to use the blunt end, scalpel. Male Speaker: This is proof of how much faith I have in you. Male Speaker: No, no, no, I'll hold it this way. Do you feel better now? So this is that handsome Adam's apple of his which is the thyroid cartilage. Immediately below that, you feel a little crease which is in between the thyroid cartilage, and the cricoid cartilage. You would want to make an incision right through there, like so. Male Speaker: It's not bleeding, is it? Male Speaker: No, it's not and that's a little bit different from the standard surgical tracheotomy which you place between the fourth and fifth tracheal ring under surgical conditions. I would make an incision like this, separate the muscles in his neck, and place that tracheostomy tube.
