Image Source: WALA BY JIM FLINK ANCHOR  JASMINE BAILEY A deadly Christmas Day tornado ripped through the midtown area of Mobile, Alabama.  Three people have been confirmed dead, in the southern US, and tens of thousands of people remain without power. Take a look at the video of the massive twister from CNN . You can see transformers exploding, and the twister cutting a large path through the city. The Weather Channel and NBC’s Jim Cantore shows some of the damage left on the ground. “The path of this thing, maybe four to five miles long,  We have large chunks of trees sitting in the road here, and of course power poles as well.” One witness tells WALA, he made a run for his building, making it inside just in the nick of time before heading to a lower level. “Had just gotten inside the building when some of those container buildings like the ones outside of the building went through the doors of the shop, ripped the roof off.” Memphis’ WREG reports, the tornado touched down five different times, just missing the hospital district.  On CBS This Morning , a local reporter in Mobile explains, one building damaged on Christmas Day, had just been packed the night before with hundreds of people. “And on this Christmas day, not even a house of worship can be saved.  Trinity Christian saw its walls torn gone, the altar can be seen from outside.” 325 Christmas Day flights were cancelled around the country -- particularly across the deep South.  The storm system is heading North and East now, next targeting Georgia and the Carolinas.
