Protests over an anti-Islamic film have now spread to more than 20 countries - most in the Middle East.  Indonesia and Afghanistan are the latest countries to see violent protests. CBS has the situation in Afghanistan.

 

“Today we've seen the first real angry response in Kabul to this controversial anti-islam film ...

Around 1,000 demonstrators staged a violent protest close base on the outskirts of Kabul. They set at least one police car on fire, burned tires and chanted 'Death to America.'[”
 

With all the unrest in the Middle East, gas prices in the US continue to climb higher. Here’s Good Morning America .

 

“The national average for gas is now $3.87 per gallon. That is 16 cents higher than last month. This rare September spike in prices is being blamed on tensions in the Middle East, hurricane Isaac, and the partial shutdown of oil for upgrades.”

 

Also in US news, an 18-year-old from Illinois is in Federal court today after he allegedly planned to bomb a nightclub in downtown Chicago. Last Friday, Adel Daoud was arrested after buying what he thought were explosives from an undercover agent. Then - authorities say he tried to detonate them. Here’s NBC .

And in business and tech news - the iPhone 5 announcement sent Apple shares to new records. Apple stock is up close to 300% in the last 5 years and continues to charge.

 

“Apple stock hit an all-time high of $695 a share on friday. Ultimately closing at $691 a share. This morning it's up again in premarket trading. Stock is up nearly 70% year-to-date. Of course the iPhone 5 is a big moneymaker for apple and the new one isn't even out yet." ( CNN )
