BY MADISON MACK ANCHOR LOGAN TITTLE The winter storm system that pounded the nation’s core began pelting the Northeast on Wednesday with high winds, snow and sleet. CNN Reports “Six northeast states, ... all under a winter storm warning this morning. Some places are facing up to two feet of snow. Holiday travel, of course, already snarled. more than 1700 flights canceled yesterday and more of the same expected today.” Hawaii’s newest Senator Brian Schatz is hitching a ride to Washington with the president via Air Force One. NBC has more. “He is replacing the late senator from Hawaii, Senator Inouye. he'll likely be sworn in later today. schatz tweeted he's looking forward to supporting the president's agenda.” In world news, more than three hundred families living near San Cristobal Volcano in Nicaragua have been ordered to leave their homes. Here’s Al Jazeera.   “The highest volcano in Nicaragua began spewing hot gas and ash on Tuesday. A yellow alert was declared with red being the most dangerous. It has had regular small eruptions in the last few days but larger ones are unpredictable.” Nearly 700 tea estate workers surrounded their boss’  home in the Indian  state of Assam and set it on fire, killing him and his wife.
