(Image source: BBC )     BY ZACH TOOMBS     Here’s a look at your top news headlines from Newsy.   Pope Benedict XVI is scheduled to have his last meeting with the head of government in Italy on Saturday before he resigns at the end of the month.   According to Bloomberg , he will meet with Mario Monti, Italy’s Prime Minister, who’s currently running for another term in office. The BBC reports.   “The papacy will remain vacant until a successor is chosen from a conclave of cardinals. The Vatican says it hopes that will happen before the end of the year.”   After a four-day manhunt for runaway Florida fugitive Alberto Morales, authorities shot and killed him Friday night.   WPTV reports Morales, a convicted sex offender, escaped from police custody after stabbing a detective in the neck with a pair of eyeglasses on Monday night while in transit to Los Vegas for trial.   According to WFAA , Morales was eventually located by police after they responded to a burglary late Friday night in which men’s clothing and jewelry were all that was stolen. After they later discovered Morales hiding in the woods near the scene he again tried to escape— as a result, he was fatally shot by officers.   And in Russia, authorities are cleaning up the destruction left by a meteoric shockwave that lit up the sky, blasted out windows and injured hundreds.   Al Jazeera reports at least 950 people were left injured from the blast but none reported killed. The meteor rained down over the Ural mountains, about 1500 kilometers east of Moscow. More than 20,000 workers were dispatched by the government to help with cleanup.   Back in the states, Los Angeles police released autopsy results for Christopher Dorner, showing he died for a single gunshot wound to the head while trapped inside a burning cabin.   In its most detailed account of the final shootout with Dorner yet, the LAPD denied that it intentionally set the cabin where Dorner holed up on fire.
