Shia Muslim leaders in Pakistan are demanding action from the government to ensure safety and go after attackers targeting their religious minority. This comes after a series of bombings focused on areas heavily populated with Shia Muslims.   Al Jazeera reports Shia Muslims in Sunni-dominated Pakistan feel ignored by the government. Now they’re threatening mass protests if the government does not go after the group claiming responsibility for recent attacks — Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.   And organizers estimate 35,000 people rallied in Washington, D.C. Sunday opposing the controversial Keystone XL pipeline. Environmental groups say the project, meant to bolster oil availability, will do irreparable harm to nature throughout the U.S. [Video: WRC-DC ]   But The New York Times writes President Obama faces not just domestic pressure to finalize approval of the pipeline — but also urging from the nation sharing the pipeline.   “Canada, the United States’ most important trading partner … is counting on the pipeline to propel more growth in its oil patch … Its leaders have made it clear that an American rejection would be viewed as an unneighborly act and could bring [economic] retaliation.”   And country music singer Mindy McCready was found dead from suspected suicide Sunday. The singer hit the top of the charts in the early 1990s with songs like “Guys Do It All the Time.” But she had seen some rough patches over the last decade. [Video: NBC ]   According to Fox News , that included dealings with addiction, prison and a nasty custody battle over one of her two sons. Her death comes just one month after her longtime boyfriend David Wilson died in an apparent suicide.    And in sports, Danica Patrick became the first woman to win pole position for the Daytona 500 Sunday.   The accomplishment means she’ll have the best position starting next week’s season-opening race. She’s previously broken barriers as the first woman to lead laps in the Indy 500 and the first to win an IndyCar race when she did so in Japan in 2008.
