A whopping 11 days after Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise, TomKat has already reached a divorce settlement. The Los Angeles Times has the official statement from Katie’s lawyer.

 

“We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.”

TMZ reports Cruise’s lawyer also confirmed a settlement had been reached.

 

“Tom is really pleased we got there, and so am I.”

 

Now the actual details of the agreement have not been made public, and a legal analyst on CNN says they probably will never be.

 

“We will never know because the terms of the divorce are -- of the divorce settlement are confidential. That's what we've just learned and that's no surprise.”

 

But E! reports what sources from both sides say what the agreement most likely is.

 

“Cruise and Holmes are working on an agreement where their six-year-old daughter Suri would live in New York with Katie and Tom would have visitation rights.”

 

Even though both public statements from the couple’s lawyers seemed content with the agreement, HLN reports it was Katie who won the most.

 

“So Katie's big win out of this is control. She walks away with money. But most of all, she makes those key decisions about their daughter. And their privacy is protected as well.”

 

The couple did make a joint public statement regarding the divorce, which basically says they they plan to focus the agreement around their daughter. ABC News has part of that statement...

 

"We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents.”

 

But on Fox News , a lawyer not affiliated with the case says the reason for the speedy agreement may have been not only for Suri, but for their careers as well. Both actors have movies coming out soon.

 

“If they are feuding at the expense of a child, I don't think a lot of folks across this country are going to buy movie tickets.”

 

The couple was married in November 2006.
