A toaster burns morning news images on bread. Reading the news with your morning toast is certainly nothing new. However there is an innovative, fresh way to get that daily dose of news. Called The Image Toaster, it is a home appliance which also connects to the internet via Wi-Fi. The toaster searches the web for popular daily photos and burns the image onto the toast pieces.A filter converts internet pictures into a grid of black and white pixels, which are burned on the bread pieces, creating a low resolution image of the day onto your breakfast. The idea is certainly intriguing but for now the project is currently thought to be more of an art project.However it could serve as a conceptual inspiration for interesting ways our news feeds could be placed onto edible items. Last year, coffee chain, Tim Horton's featured the Gulf News tweets printed in real time on each coffee sleeve. They also had a QR code that could be scanned by a smart phone which would bring drinkers to a full length version of the story on the Gulf News website. What do you say?
