Colm: Hello, hostelworld.com’s Com Hanratty. I’m here in New York in Time Square. And I’m here with my friend, Adam Kenny. Adam: How are you doing guys? Colm: Alright, and this is my first stop of my around the world tour trip, next is San Francisco. But in every second I’m going to show a bit of information of that city with you. Before I share my a bit of information, Adam you live here, what would you like to add, share to the people of the world? Adam: It’s the best place in the world. Colm: Right, well, New York is also known as the big apple. But did you know that the reason it has the name the big apple is not into a fruit at all. Back in the 1920’S, a journalist for the New York Morning Telegraph, do you know this by the way? Adam: I didn’t know this actually. Colm: Alright. Adam: Learn something new everyday. Colm: Back in the 1920’s a journalist for the New York Morning Telegraph called John Fitzgerald. He was a horse racing journalist. Well he had, he was over the New Orleans and overheard Staperham’S there first in New York as the big apple when New York race track is the big apple. He subsequently called his column in the news paper Around the Big Apple. Then a few years later jazz musicians open her open her column as New York the Big Apple. And from then on, it just took, so there you go, that was all. There was guy called John Fitzgerald and he was talking about the race track or something. And there you go.
