Hi! I’m Mark Le Mon Project Manager and we’re going to learn how to tile.
Today, we’re going to reworking on a floor. So you’ll probably start actually setting the tiles down. The first thing I like to do is do a dry fit. So I’ve placed the tiles on the ground, get my spacers, set the spacers in between the tiles, measure all my cuts. I do my cuts around the angles that I need to be done, making sure everything fits snugly. Don’t forget the spacers because they are very important when you’re setting your tiles.
So then after we get this set like this, get ready to prepare to cut our corners. I washed down the floor. Make sure we get all that dust off there. It’s just a quick sponge. In this case, I’m going to be using a quarter notch trough spreading evenly in a quarter of little pattern.
The most important is to try to get as even of a trough as possible around the closet. We’re going to be lying in our spacers and this will set a distance between tiles keeping it uniform. Set another spacer on the outside edge for temporary, press it in place. Check it for fasteners and continue on.
We’re going to finish this up here with a wet sponge and sponge to clean off any excess thin set off the top of the tiles. Be very careful to get all of the excess just a bit of hardness and you don’t have a hard time to do cleaning it up. If you see that there’s a lot of thin set that’s inside of your joints, try to clean it as much as possible because you’re going to need to that for your grout stage.
