My name is Roger Bennett Riggle and today we are demonstrating advanced Jazz dancing. Here to demonstrate those moves is one of my advanced Jazz students here at the Berrend Dance Center Mackenzie Royce (ph). The next thing we are going to show you is how to Pirouette. We are going to show you a single Pirouette first. The arms are basically kind of open and we are going to close them in first position, can you demonstrate? So you are closing first, right. And that helps you turn. They cannot be too close to the body; they must still basically hold that round egg shape. You are going to lift the leg in pass which means to bring the leg up, the toe comes to the knee and that's pass and in Jazz it's often in pli, see her standing leg is bent at the knee. So it's down into the earth, the Pirouette is done in pli on the standing leg. So here we go, we are going to do a single Pirouette, the arms are open, you close them in first and you pass, pirouette. One pirouette and she is going to drop down and touch the left toe beside the right and basically open the arms in a Jazz style of dancing. Again she is almost really showing the earth there. Jazz has an earthy quality to it; it's a very folksy type of dance. In advanced Jazz we usually do double pirouette, so Mackenzie is going to demonstrate a double pirouette. So here we go, it's two turns pass, one two and she drops an open that's pointing to the earth, that is a double pass. Now we are going to show you how to do a single and a double in slow motion. So Mackenzie is going to demonstrate a single pirouette, very nice and then she is going to demonstrate a double pirouette. Again notice that the standing leg is in pli, double pirouette. Next we are going to demonstrate for you how to do a Stag Leap.
