So today, we’re going to go over the most requested word origin of all time the F-word, so get ready class. Let’s play a game, if you think you know the origin of this word, please, go ahead and pause the video and leave me a comment. There’s a whole lot of people who think they know the origin of this word, so let’s see if you’re right. There are many theories on where this word came from, so I’m going to give you a few. For the first one, there used to be an Irish law saying that if you committed adultery, they would put you in the socks and write F-U-C-K-I-N above it, and that’s short for, For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge In the Nude. Another theory was that during the middle ages the kings who try to control the population by making it illegal to have children, now some families were allowed to have children so they would put a sign above their door saying, Fornication Under the Crescent of Kings, this later became abbreviated to F-U-C-K. There are many theories that this word is an acronym, meaning that each letter of the word stands for something. For example, Fornication Under the Christian King, Fornication Under the Command of the King, Fornication Under Carnal Knowledge, False Use of Carnal Knowledge, Felonious Use of Carnal Knowledge, Felonious Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, Full-on Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. Found Under Carnal Knowledge, Found Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, and Forced Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, so out of all of these acronyms, which one is right? None of them, all of these are considered to be urban myths. So where did the word really come from? Well, I’m gonna tell you, so the origin of this word really isn’t that interesting at all, it comes from an old German word ficken, which means to hit or strike. In comparison, we use a similar phrase today, I’d hit that. So even before the German word, scholars believe that there was a language that all the European languages were based on called Indo-European and in the Indo-European language, there was this word F-U-K, that means to hit, or strike. So from the Indo-European word it went to the Dutch word Fokken, which meant to breed, to have children, or to strike. And from that, we got the Norwegian word Fukka, which meant to have sex. And from that, we got the Swedish word Fokka, which also means to have sex or to strike and then from that, we also got the Swedish word fock, which meant a penis. In a future video, I’m going to be your biology teacher, I’m gonna be giving you interesting facts about the human body and in another video, get ready to go to the beach, because I’m going to be wearing a bikini.
