Host: Where did the idea of resolutions first begin?
Gary Ryan Blair: The traditional New Year's resolutions actually could be traced back to 153 B.C. when Janus who actually was mythical king was placed at the head of the calendar.
A Janus is always depicted with two heads. One looked to the past, the other one looked to the future. What the Romans did, they actually used Janus as a symbol to look at the past for forgiveness for their sins into the future for opportunity and for hope and that really is the origin of it.
