Susan: I knew that support was really important because we lost a child 10 years ago and that was a huge significant part of us getting through that part of our lives. So the very day that I was diagnosed, I send an email to everyone on my email list, it was a big list, and we’ve moved around a lot. So we have lots of connections. And I just you know, said, we got shocking news today, we can’t believe it and I have breast cancer, and I need your prayers, and this is what we know and I’ll be in touched.

And then I continued to blog and update as we went, and that was so huge for me. Because you feel like you’re so alone you know when you find out this information and I didn’t feel so lonely. I mean, hundreds of people responded within the first 24 hours. They said, “We’re with you. We’re praying for you.” You know, and it just was so helpful to know that I wasn’t alone, I wasn’t facing this alone and I had people with me.
