Now, let us take at a scale built on a fifth degree of a C Major scale.
This is a dominant seventh or Mixolydian scale. Of all the different modes you can make our of a major scale, the dominant seventh scale is probably the most frequently used.
There are a lot of ways to approach playing on this scale but it is a big enough topic that we will have to deal with it separately.
For now, just know that dominant scales are played everywhere all the time.
