Anne Diamond: What about splitting up your exercise routine? Fitness experts seem to think that if you exercise a bit in the morning and a bit later on then you'll get doubled benefit than if you did it all in one long session. So try a morning routine that you can stick to like ten minutes on the exercise bike or ten minutes of weight training while you watch breakfast television. Then do a workout later in the day or at night. You will burn an extra 100-200 calories that way because you are stoking up the metabolism.
Also you can add variety into your daily exercise routine without formally exercising at all. For example, take the stairs instead of the lift, or briskly walk the 20 minutes instead of sitting down and reading a newspaper, or park farther away from the shops and walk the distance between the parking spot and the entrance. All of these will benefit your metabolism and add new elements to your overall exercise program. Most trainers recommend changing your exercise program just to stoke up the metabolism. When you add variety to your workout, your body can't get into a groove.
