A short drive from Mount Pleasant is Grant Wood’s American Gothic House in Eldon, Iowa. Fascinated by its compact design and gothic window, in 1930 he sketched the house which eventually would become one of America’s most popular and recognized paintings of Grant Wood which hangs in Eldon City Hall. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Iowa State Historic Society owns and preserves this icon of American art.
With over 45 years of experience working in 40 countries, the South Pole and North Pole, the Watts present their travel, fly fishing and cooking videos.
