The Amazing Architecture of Thailand
Thai architecture is unforgettable and displays the country’s rich cultural history. Hi I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome to WatchMojo.com. Today we’ll be looking at the architecture in Thailand.
Great golden spires and soaring towers depict typical Thai architecture. Strongly influenced by the Indian, Chinese, and Khmer culture and art, Thai style has evolved for over seven centuries. The Khmer influenced was seen in the use of sandstone and doors, windows and other pieces. However, the use of brick over took that trend in the 12th century.
Chinese influence is seen in the use of pottery and coordination. Buddhist Temples are plentiful in Thailand and the best examples of Buddhist architecture show examples of superb carvings. Specific to Thai style are the sloped, multi-tiered roofs, golden images of Buddha and remarkable indoor murals.
Unfortunately, many of Thailand’s most typical architecture was built out of wood and these buildings have not stood the test of time.
