Spyware Doctor with Antivirus - Removing Malware
Welcome to our series on getting the best from Spyware Doctor with Antivirus from PC Tools. I’m Erin.
In this fifth episode, I’ll show you how to remove spyware and other malware from your computer using Spyware Doctor with Antivirus.
In the previous episode, we went over the process of scanning your system with Spyware Doctor with Antivirus to detect threats and infections. Removing those pieces of malware isn’t as simple as just getting rid of them. You need to be sure that you’re not throwing away something an application on your computer might need. As with any anti malware program, Spyware Doctor with Antivirus may sometimes categorize a piece of software as malware that you may still want to keep on your system that’s why it’s always a good idea to review each item that’s been identified as a threat or infection. After a scan is done, all detected threats and infections are listed in the start scan page. Spyware Doctor with Antivirus assigns a threat level to each one it finds.
They range between suspicious and high. Click on the threat level link on the right pane to get a more detailed description of each threat level from the PC Tools website. Click the plus icon to the left of the checkbox to see a menu of the infections that fall within each threat.
In some cases, you may notice the name of an application that you regularly use in your computer within the list of infections. If you want to find out more about a particular infection, trying copying and pasting the information into a search engine like Google, Bing or Yahoo to see what comes out.
You can also contact PC Tools Customer Support by visiting PCTools.com to get some advice on what you can do in cases like this. More than likely, a vast majority of what’s detected will need to be removed but it’s always a good idea to do some homework when you’re not clear on what to do with a particular infection.
At the bottom, you’ll see the fix checked button which can remove the threats and infections that are checked off in the list. When you first click it, it will likely warn you to double check that you’re not getting rid of something useful. Don’t forget to uncheck anything that you want to keep on your system. Once you are confident that you should remove the infected files, click fix checked and watch the green progress bar finish. It shouldn’t take very long at all even if you have hundreds of infections.
When it’s finished, the Spyware Doctor with Antivirus will show you an overview of how many total items were scanned, how many infections detected and removed and if it failed to remove anything. The click here link will allow you to schedule your next scan or you can opt to view your scanning history by going to the view history link at the bottom right. If you just want to move on, click finish.
Pat yourselves on the backs since you have just completed the process of scanning your computer and removing the malicious files it found. Your PC should be healthier.
