Spa-Like Master Bath
Design On a Dime
Host: We locked Dominique and Rich Tayback out of their house so we could create some calm in their boring white master bathroom. We just put the final touches on their new seaside spot escape all for only $1,000 let’s hope the tayback’s are as swept away by it as we are.
Okay and on the count of 3 1, 2, 3 open your eyes.
Rich: This is great.
Host: Do you like it?
Rich: I love it.
Dominique: It’s like a yacht.
Host: Yes does this feel like real good. Isn’t very romantic in there.
The white walls in the old room were stark and harsh. The new wall color is cool and evokes the feeling of the ocean. The old room featured recess lighting that was strictly functional. The new pendant lighting adds elegant style, visual interest and contrast to the space.
Dominique: I never would have thought of that.
Host: The black accents are really what keeps this room from kid of fading away because the colors are so light that the black really then gives it some substantiality in a couple of different places.
Host: The old bathroom had a noticeably big empty spot in the middle of the room. In the new spa sweep the area features a comfortable bench for changing and storage.
This disorganized wall in the old room created a chaotic feel. The new generously proportioned towel rack with plush oversized bath towels creates a feeling of luxury in the room.
Dominique: I love this.
Host: Dave made that for you isn’t that fantastic?
Dominique: Yeah that’s gorgeous.
Host: Now you still have space up above to do more stack towels or to decorate if you want to but that’s more than enough space for your daily towels and then robe hooks on the end as well.
Dominique: Now you going to be able to hang the towels.
Host: Because it’s very important.
Rich: I’m not touching those towels those are staying there.
Host: Good towels.
The taybacks wood blinds were stark engineering the new window treatment soften the space an coordinate the window are a with the rest of the room.
Rich: I love the shades. We may never see the blinds again.
Host: Well okay then. The old vanity bench was nice but it was no eye grabber a coat of black paint gave it substance while a matching terry cloth cover ties it in with the rest of the room and sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference. Dark frame shadow box art creates an exotic seaside theme as do the other accessories we added.
I hope you guys enjoy it.
Dominique: Thank you so much.
Host: You’re welcome.
Rich: Okay everybody leave I’m going to take a bath now.
