Sony released a short teaser trailer on their blog that told viewers to expect something from Playstation on February 20th. Since the Playstation 3 came out almost 7 years ago many believe Sony will unveil the long awaited Playstation 4. If Sony shows does reveal the PS4, it’ll have a head start on Microsoft, which plans on revealing its next console later this year. The big news came at a difficult time for the video-game market. The gaming industry underwent a huge downturn during the last year. According to market research firm, NPD Group — gaming industry sales were down 22 percent in 2012. The decrease is in line with the increased popularity of inexpensive and mobile gaming which has shifted the focus of the industry over the last few years. Sony isn’t blind to the trend. Dow Jones Business News reports Sony will focus more on high-end social and motion-based gaming with the new console. And with the purchase of cloud-based gaming service GAIKAI,  Sony could be looking to feature a lot more downloadable content for the Playstation 4 and beyond. The New York Times reports Nintendo cut its quarterly sales projections for the Wii U by 30 percent this week.
