A soccer game was delayed due to a bee swarm. Experts say the bee population is in decline but some soccer fans may disagree.Recently, the kickoff of a Brazilian soccer league match was temporarily delayed after a swarm of bees decided to chill out on a crossbar.Fire authorities were dispatched to the stadium in São Paulo to handle the situation. A flame was used to rid the bees, but the attempt was unsuccessful. Bee keepers later arrived on the scene and utilized fire extinguishers to kill the insects before carrying the swarm away in a black bag. The crossbar was then cleaned with gasoline and the match was allowed to start, albeit 15 minutes late.The wait was definitely worth it for fans of the home team, as Ponte Preta scored a 2-1 victory. In 2009, a swarm of bees halted another soccer game at the Azteca stadium in Mexico City. The match was roughly 3 minutes underway when the insects set up camp inside of the goalposts. The game was stopped for roughly 6 minutes so stadium authorities could clear the bees, using fire extinguishers. Mexico ended up winning the game with a score of 4-1.
