Narrator: Jaden James is the next karate kid. The talented son of Will Smith who has spent plenty of his own time on the red carpet has taken on the iconic role in this kick-em-up remake. It's a classic tale of a boy becoming a man through discipline and respect for others. Jaden plays Dre Parker, a popular American kid who finds out what it's like to get bullied when he relocates to Beijing with his mother. Mr. Han played by Kung fu legend Jackie Chan comes to his rescue and begins to teach him the ways of karate.
Jackie Chan: After I teach him all the things, then he knows martial arts is not really important.
Jaden Smith: He was always teaching me things, he was teaching me things about how to stretch correctly and how to like be able to stand correctly and he will always tell me Okay, yeah you need to focus you know.
Narrator: So what else do we need to know about 11-year-old Jaden? Well, it turns out his mad about marshal arts and spent months training for the part.
Jackie Chan: I hope through Jaden, through the movie, through Will Smith producer, through me to introduce what marshal arts is about, what's the movie about.
Narrator: Jaden clearly takes after his dad who was never too far from set.
Will Smith: I got my eye on you Jackie Chan.
Narrator: Together with him as producer, he's set to make a big hit this summer.
