Snoop Dogg Has a New Name - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.

How many times in your life have you changed your name? Probably never but it seems to be not so uncommon among music stars.

The latest to move onto a different name is Snoop Dogg or more accurately, the artist formerly known as Snoop Dogg is now Snoop Lion.

His reason - he feels he's born again after his visit to Jamaica and wants to focus on Reggae - music that his kids and grandparents can listen to.

He says at a press conference as noted in a San Francisco Chronicle report -
“There comes a point where you say I done it all, or there isn’t much more to do. This was like a rebirth for me. With no disrespect to other rappers, but they can’t f- with me in rap… I’ve won every accolade you can get in rap, they call me ‘Uncle Snoop’ in rap. When you’re an uncle, it’s time to find something new… I want to feel like a kid again."

There are a number of music stars who have changed names. Sean Combs has had a few including Puff Duddy, P. Diddy and Diddy.
